Erik Qualman, best-selling author of Socialnomics

Erik Qualman is the author of Socialnomics: How Social Media Transforms the Way We Live and Do Business, and is a speaker within the Internet community. He is a columnist for Search Engine Watch and ClickZ Magazine. An MSU graduate, he has been highlighted in, BusinessWeek, The New York Times, Forbes, and The Huffington Post. He has also been interviewed on radio and television discussing his view on digital trends.

MSU Celebrity Luncheon – Mark Hollis

Mark Hollis, MSU Director of Athletics

A Michigan State graduate and veteran Spartan athletics administrator, Mark Hollis assumed the role of MSU’s 18th athletics director on Jan. 1, 2008, succeeding Ron Mason. He was named athletics director-designate on Sept. 12, 2007, and teamed with Mason in the transition throughout the fall of 2007.

Mark has more than 20 years of athletics administration experience, either at the school or conference level. His well-rounded background has led to his knowledge of all areas within an athletics department, including marketing, financial administration, television negotiations, fund-raising, game operations, facility management, personnel policy, corporate interaction, sports management and public relations.

He returned to MSU in 1995. Since then, he has been a critical component of the athletic department executive management staff, helping guide the department through short- and long-range plans.

Dean’s Reception – Stefanie Lenway

Stefanie Lenway, Eli and Edythe L. Broad Dean (effective July 16, 2010)

Stefanie Lenway, who has 30 years of experience as a business researcher and university administrator, will be the new Eli and Edythe L. Broad Dean of the Broad School, effective July 16, 2010.

Lenway, 59, has served as dean of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Business Administration since 2005. She will become the 10th dean – and the first female dean – in the history of MSU’s business college, which was founded in 1944 as the School of Business and Public Service.

Farewell Breakfast – Scott Westerman

Scott Westerman, Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations and
Executive Director of the MSU Alumni Association

Scott Westerman, longtime telecommunications executive and entrepreneur, is MSU’s new associate vice president for alumni relations and executive director of the MSU Alumni Association (MSUAA).

Scott comes to MSU from Albuquerque, N.M., where he was an area vice president for Comcast Corp.’s West Division. He spearheaded a public relations turnaround for the company by leveraging social media such as Facebook and Twitter to respond to customer complaints.

Through his 25 plus years of service in the cable television industry, Scott has extensive expertise in general management, revenue generation, subscription growth, expense control and strategic alliances. At the same time, he has been an active Spartan advocate throughout his career, serving in multiple leadership roles in MSUAA regional clubs and on the College of Communication Arts and Sciences Alumni Board.
