Chris Brothers is Managing Director at Saybrook Capital Management, LLC, and is the Portfolio Manager of the Saybrook Corporate Opportunity Fund, a private equity and distress debt fund that provides capital to lower middle market companies in the United States and Canada. Brothers has over 22 years of experience in this field. He is also a financial advisor specializing in mergers, acquisitions, as well as financial restructurings. Prior to joining Saybrook, he was actively involved in the major investments at Oaktree Capital Management for ten years. Before that, he was employed by Salomon Brothers in New York City and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago and Los Angeles. Brothers received Accounting and MBA degrees from the Broad School He is a CFA and a CPA, and has served on the Broad School’s Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2007.
Beth Chappell is the President of the Detroit Economic Club. Under Chappell’s leadership, the DEC has maintained its ranking as one of the nation’s top speaking forums for Fortune 100 CEOs and senior government officials. The Detroit Economic Club has hosted every sitting U.S. President since Richard Nixon as well as many influential business executives and leaders. Chappell spent 16 years at AT&T, where she served as Global Services Vice President, leading relationship sales efforts with large clients around the world. She also owned and operated her own consulting firm, The Chappell Group, which specialized in strategic planning, organizational development, and sales and marketing strategies. Chappell also served as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications for Compuware Corporation. She is a 2005 recipient of the Broad School’s Outstanding Alumni Award, and has served on the Broad School’s Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2007.
Richard Metzler is Managing Director of Trove Partners, LLC, a management consultant, and author with more than 30 years of career experience in utilities supply chain management and strategy. He was associated with several management consulting firms before forming the Metzler Group in 1996. As Managing Director of Trove Partners, LLC, Metzler invests and trades in publicly-listed domestic electric and gas utility stocks. He is also a private equity investor. In 2006, he led efforts to establish the Metzler-Hoagland Endowed Chair in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management at the Broad School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management in 1963 from the Broad School, and holds an MBA from the University of Michigan. He has served on the Broad School’s Alumni Association Board of Directors since January 2010.
Frederick P. Morgeson is a Professor of Management and Valade Research Scholar at the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Purdue University. Morgeson teaches and does research in human resource management and organizational behavior. This research has been published in Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Learning and Education, Academy of Management Review, American Psychologist, Consulting Psychology Journal: Practice and Research, Human Performance, Human Resource Management, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business and Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Quality Management, Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Personnel Psychology. In addition, he has co-authored Job Analysis: Methods, Research, and Applications for Human Resource Management, authored or co-authored numerous book chapters, and presented over 75 papers at professional meetings. Morgeson is the Associate Editor of Personnel Psychology, is on the Editorial Committee for the Annual Review of Psychology, is a member of the Academy of Management’s HR Division Executive Committee, and serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Applied Psychology and Academy of Management Learning and Education. He is a recipient of the 2005 American Psychological Association Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology in Applied Psychology.
Stu Reed is currently Senior Vice President and President of Home Services for Sears Holdings Corporation. He was formerly President of Motorola’s Mobile Devices and also Executive Vice President at Motorola, responsible for the company’s integrated supply chain. Prior to joining Motorola, Reed spent more than 20 years with IBM, capping his career there as Vice President of Worldwide Manufacturing for IBM’s integrated supply chain, and serving as a key executive in the transformation of IBM’s supply chain operations. He is a member of the Broad School’s Supply Chain Management Advisory Board and served as a member of the Corporate Partnership Board for the Center for Leadership of the Digital Enterprise (CLODE) at MSU. Reed is a 2005 recipient of the Broad School’s Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award. He earned an M.S. degree in Management from MIT, where he was a Sloan Fellow, and earned his B.A. in Materials and Logistics Management from the Eli Broad College of Business. He has served on the Broad School’s Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2008
Karyll Shaw is the Acting Associate Dean of MBA and Professional Programs at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management. Shaw received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, and has both an academic and industry background. Before joining the Broad School, Shaw served in various human resources management roles at Microsoft Corporation, providing organizational consulting to executives and leading executive and high-potential talent management processes for the company. Prior to joining Microsoft, Shaw led world-wide leadership education for Rohm and Haas, Co., and worked in applied research for the Department of Defense, U.S. Navy. In addition to her corporate and consulting experience, Shaw served on the Management faculties at Villanova University, San Diego State University and the University of Kentucky. Previous to her role as Acting Associate Dean, Shaw served as Executive Director of the Full-Time MBA Program at the Broad School. She received her Master’s degree from the MSU College of Education and her Bachelor’s degree from the MSU College of Social Science.
