Georgia Chao is an Associate Professor of Management at the Broad School. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to joining MSU in 1985, she was Section Head of the Department of Management at the GMI Engineering & Management Institute. Her research interests are in the areas of organizational socialization, career development, and international human resource management. Chao was elected to the American Psychological Association (APA) Council and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Applied Psychology, the International Journal of Selection and Assessment, and Human Resource Management Review. She is a member of the Academy of Management, APA, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. In 1995 she received the Outstanding Publication in Organizational Behavior award presented by the Academy of Management’s Organizational Behavior Division.
Gary Hawthorne is Vice President of Finance for Ford Motor Canada, and has served in several global roles: in Taiwan with Ford’s Asia Pacific Operations and in London supporting Ford of Europe, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover. Hawthorne is a 32-year finance veteran of Ford Motor Company, a member of the Board of Directors for the Broad School’s Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), and has been very active in charitable and community service support throughout southeast Michigan. He earned the B.A. in Finance from the Eli Broad College of Business, and his MBA from Eastern Michigan University. He has served on the Broad School’s Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2010.
Ken Sommer is Chief Executive Officer for Port Fortune Investments. He a former Chief Executive Officer for Visa International, and had a key role in corporate restructure. As an Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer he had responsibility for finance, treasury, human resources, procurement, and facilities. As Chief Financial Officer for Citibank’s Corporate and Investment Bank for Latin America, he was responsible for all finance functions for 21 countries. Sommer also held senior financial positions for Citibank at both the New York corporate office and in Singapore for the Asia Pacific Group. He began his career at Lever Brothers Company. Ken received his B.A. in Accounting from the Eli Broad College of Business in 1980, and has served on the Broad School’s Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2006.
Linn Van Dyne received her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota with a concentration in Strategic Management and Organization. As a Professor in the Department of Management, Van Dyne is Associate Editor for Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and is on the editorial board of Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Relations, Management and Organizational Review, and Academy of Management Perspectives. Her research is featured in Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Research in Organizational Behavior, and other publications. Prior to her academic career, Van Dyne was Director of Human Resources at the Donaldson Company.
